A wide variety of people visit the Ridge for many different purposes. Visitors may be divided into two broad groups according to their behaviour:

• Desirable visitors

This group includes daytime visitors/tourists who come to enjoy the view and a quiet stroll along the path, joggers, cyclists and photographers. Whenever celestial events occur, the Ridge attracts large numbers of visitors who see it as a vantage point from which to observe lunar eclipses, comets and planets lining up.

• Undesirable visitors

This group includes vandals (spray-painting and defacing the beautiful rocks), litterbugs, drunkards, drug users and noise makers.
